Where is IBNTel available?
IBN InterTelecom’s phone services are available throughout most of the continental United States.

How long does it take to switch my long distance company to IBNTel?
It normally takes between 3 to 5 business days to switch your long distance company to IBNTel.

How do I know when my long distance company has been switched to IBNTel?
When your phone services have been switched to IBNTel, you will hear an “IBN InterTelecom” jingle or message that plays after you finish dialing the number and just before your call starts ringing. If you don’t hear this message and your call completes then you are not using IBN’s long distance services for that call.

Are there any set up fees to open an account with IBNTel?
There are no setup fees to open an account with IBNTel. If you sign up for the direct dial (switched) service you local company may charge a small fee on your local phone bill for switching your long distance carrier.

Is there a minimum usage requirement?
There are no minimum usage requirements in order to use our services. We do have a billing fee of $1.95 per month if your usage is under $20 for a particular month. If you disconnect your account you must inform our customer service department to avoid being charged the $1.95 fee.

Will my account have a credit limit?
All new customers that register on the web receive a $25 credit limit on their first registered phone and $10 on any additional phone. This credit limit can be increased after the customer establishes a good payment history by paying their bill on time at least 3 consecutive months in a row. A customer can also have their credit limit increased if they either prepay their account or place a security deposit on their account both of which can be done with a credit card.

Are there any surcharges when we use your phone cards or prepaid calling cards?
There are no connection fees or surcharges when you use the IBNtel phone cards or prepaid calling cards from most land lines. If you dial from a public phone, there will be a $.75 surcharge per call.

Do I have to dial any special codes to get my low IBNTel rates?
If you switch your phone to IBNTel, you will not be required to dial any access codes. However, we do have a dial around service for those customers that prefer to keep their existing long distance carrier and wish to dial with an access code.

Do your rates change and if they do how do you notify your customers of the change?
Our rates do change from time to time. For the most part, when our rates change they are reduced not increased. If a rate does increase it is usually for reasons that we cannot control like when certain international dialing codes are changed so that they are charged as cellulars instead of land lines or when the cost of making a call to a certain country simply increases throughout the entire industry. We post all our new rates online where our customers can view the latest rates available. We don’t provide any special notice about rates changes except to post our latest rates on our website.

What are the access codes for your dial around service, phone cards and calling cards?
- If your account ends in “2501” the dial around access code is 1-800-305-1030, the phone card access code is 1-800-305-1029 and the prepaid calling card access code is 1-800-305-5045.
- For clients that sign up on the internet or if your account ends in “2502” the dial around access code is 1-800-305-3121, the phone card access code is 1-800-305-1613 and the prepaid calling card access code is 1-800-454-7022.
- If your account ends in “2504” the dial around access code is 1-888-522-7121, the phone card access code is 1-888-522-7161.

Which carrier is actually providing the service?
IBNTel uses multiple networks throughout the US to transport your call into our switches. Once the call gets to our switch and you hear the “IBN InterTelecom” greeting, we will then route your call again through a different carrier that will be used to transport your call to the party that you’re calling.

Why do you require that we provide the social security number?
If you sign up for any one of our post paid phone services, we will be extending you credit on your account. Your social security number will be used to determine your credit worthiness. Rest assured that your social security number is kept in the strictest of confidence and is protected by the latest security and encryption technology.

Can I open an account without providing my social security number?
You can open an account without providing the social security number if you make a pre-payment on your account or you make a security deposit payment.

Will I receive my bill on my local phone bill?
IBNTel’s bills are sent separately from the local phone company bill once a month.

Can I pay my bill online?
If you have an internet account you can login to your account and pay your bill online.

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?
Once you login to your account one of the payment options available is to pay your bill with a credit card. IBNTel accepts VISA, MasterCard or American Express.

In what time increments does IBN bill domestic and international calls?
IBNTel bills both your domestic and international calls in 6 second increments. Some international destinations (like Mexico) may have a 30 second minimum charge per call.

How can I log into my account?
If you opened your account online, you are asked to provide a username and password. You can use this username and password to log into your account if you go to https://www.ibntel.com/default.asp?pn=welcome .

I already have an account with IBN. How can I get internet access to my account?
If you already have an IBNTel account and you opened your account over the phone, you will need to contact our customer service department in order to get a username and password for your online account.

Is there any additional charge for an 800 or toll-free number?
IBNTel charges a $2 activation fee for every toll free number that you open with us. There are no monthly charges for having a toll free number.

Can you remove the “IBN InterTelecom” jingle from playing every time I dial?
We can remove the “IBN InterTelecom” jingle from playing every time you dial. You must specifically request that we remove the jingle in order for us to do so. Keep in mind that the only sure way for you to know that your call is going through IBN InterTelecom is if you hear this jingle every time you dial. If you remove the jingle from playing on your account and your phone is switched by a company without your permission, usually the only time that customers find out about this is after they receive the bill from this new company.

I am moving. What should I do?
If you are moving please contact our customer service department and let us know what your new telephone number will be so we can activate our services on your new number. We will also need to know what your new address will be so we can send you any bills from your old phone number to your new address.

- The “Redial” feature.
- The “Reorigination” feature.
- How to find out your available balance.

The “Redial” feature
After you dial the destination number, if you don’t get through for any reason (the line is busy, you get a fast busy tone, dead air, etc.) you can quickly redial your destination without having to hang up and dial the number again by simply pressing the * key followed by the # key on your telephone keypad. Using this feature will save you time and give you a slightly better chance of getting a connection if you’re calling an international destination where you don’t typically get through on the first try.

The “Reorigination” feature.
If you’re about to end your call and want to dial another destination, you can easily do so by dialing the * key twice on your telephone keypad. After you do this, your first call will be disconnected and you will then be prompted to dial another destination number. This feature is especially helpful when using a phone card or calling card.

How to find out your available balance.
Most IBN accounts are assigned a credit amount which limits the dollar amount that can be spent during a billing cycle or the available balance on your phone card or calling card. If you wish to find out what your available balance is, press the * key when you hear the “Please dial the number you wish to call” prompt. After this you can press the 1 key after which your available balance will be played. (This feature is available for Direct Dial customers if they use the “Reorigination” feature at the end of the call).
